Skilling Scenario in India

To make this the century of India, it is very important that the youth of India should be equally proficient in education as well as skill. When it comes to skills, the mantra should be 'Skilling', Reskilling', and 'Upskilling' - PM Narendra Modi

India is one of the youngest nations in the world, with more than 62% of its population in the working age group (15-59 years) and more than 54% of its total population below 25 years of age. To reap this demographic dividend which is expected to last for the next 25 years, India needs to equip its workforce with employable skills and knowledge so that they can contribute substantially to the economic growth of the country.

Currently, a significant challenge faced by the Indian industry is the insufficient availability of skilled labour. This shortage is adversely
impacting businesses in diverse sectors such as construction, manufacturing, IT & Technology, transportation & logistics. The expanding preference for white-collar positions over blue-collar roles stands out as a key factor contributing to the widening skill gap. A collaborative approach involving both the government and the industry holds the potential to effectively address and resolve
the shortage of skilled workers.
